Description

Hey guys, so THIS is the finished product of the great commission that was done by the insanely talented emmanuelxerxjavier ([link]). So, as promised, I'm going to explain what exactly this is a picture of. As a few of you may know, I have created my own original superhero character, Reese Daniels aka Jet Man. So, this is a picture of him fighting one of his villains in the skies above Seattle.

If you don't remember, Jet Man's powers include:

-Enhanced superhuman strength, speed, agility, durability, stamina, and reflexes

-Aerokinesis/Anemokinesis: manipulation of air and wind
•Able to generate, control, and absorb air and wind currents (creating small maelstroms and whirlwinds, shooting blasts of pulverizing air/whirlwinds)
•Superhuman/”windy” breath
•Can create “air-shields” by manipulating the density of the air
•Able to glide and leap far distances through the riding of air currents
•Flight and levitation (self-propulsion via wind)

-Air Mimicry: able to turn into air or wind at will (won’t be discovered until much later)
•This ability can be negated when a strong electrical current or vibration is run through the air

-Accelerated healing
-Ecological/environmental empathy
-Power detection and recognition
-Limited immunity to the spells/persuasions of other Igigi

I know that I haven't really introduced you to Anzu yet, so you may not know this little detail about him. He is essentially one of Jet Man's arch-villains, think Joker to Batman or Green Goblin to Spider-Man. So, needless to say he's big deal. He's based off of the ancient Mesopotamian lion/bird diety of the same name.

I know it might seem weird to you that one of Reese's villains is an ancient Mesopotamian monster, but what I never told you about Jet Man is that his origin is tied to Mesopotamian myth. Basically, Reese is given his powers by the Enlil, the ancient Mesopotamian god of air. I can also tell you, without revealing too much, that Reese getting his powers in the first place is actually what led to Anzu's reemergence on the human/earthly plane.

In accordance with the myth, millennia ago, Anzu was a trusted and seemingly loyal servant to Enlil, the supreme leader of the Sumerian gods. However, like his counterpart from Mesopotamian myth, Anzu attempted to steal the Tablet of Destinies, the object that granted supreme power as ruler of the Gods, from Enlil. The gods were thrown into a state of chaos and Enlil then sent his first champion, Lugalbanda, to defeat Anzu and retrieve the Tablet. Lugalbanda was successful in his campaign against Anzu and as punishment for his betrayal, Enlil destroyed Anzu’s physical form and imprisoned his essence/soul within an empty pocket dimension. It is when Enlil gives Reese his powers, due to the fact that Enlil transports Reese momentarily to another plane, that the doorway to that pocket dimension is opened and Anzu’s essence escapes onto the physical plane. Since Anzu's physical form is no more, he must take possession of human beings and the first human to be possessed by this monster is an unsuspecting British immigrant by the name of Martin Gaines. But, anyway, we'll save more of those details for later.

Anzu despises all of the Igigi (the gods of ancient Mesopotamia). He feels as if they hoarded power for themselves while relegating him and his kind to the bottom of a hierarchy, treating them like second-class citizens. He feels that he is the rightful heir to power in what is essentially a power vacuum left by their absence. During the reign of the Igigi, he was a small fish in a big pond, powerless and kicked around, but with them gone, he realizes that he is now a big fish in a small pond and looks to take advantage of that. He moves with a primitive regality, he slinks and moves stealthily like a cat, showing rough edges, but also a self-constructed air of superiority, stemming from ancient heritage and condescension toward humankind. In his fights against Reese, he feels that he is justified in seeking to destroy Reese to avenge what was done to him by Enlil

Anzu's powers include:

•Possession of human hosts (manifests himself in a cloud of blue-black smoke)

•Immortality in the sense that he does not have a physical form and can jump from host to host

•Possesses two pairs of feathered wings (which look decrepit and weathered) allowing him flight

•Acidic nails (resembling talons) and sharpened teeth (in a face that has become almost cat-like)

•Superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes

•Able to breath blue fire and shoot scalding-hot water from his mouth

•Ability to morph back into the human form of his host (provides camouflage into his environment)

Anyway, I hope you like this scene of an epic battle taking place between Jet Man and one of his principle villains. Again, props to Emmanuel Xerx Javier for the incredible job he did. Emmanuel is the first artist to ever draw Anzu and by looking at the finished product, I can tell that I chose the right guy to bring my creations to paper. Please leave any feedback or thoughts in the comments section. Peace out for now :D
